Benjamin and Marian Ludwig are buried in a pasture cemetery with virtually no permanent identification markers. The graves are located in the Old Honey Creek Cemetery, which is located on the Johnnie Gass Ranch just outside the Guadalupe River State Park in Comal County. Previously, the graves had only a concrete cross with dates scratched into a metal plate. We felt that they deserved better markers and if not replaced by this generation, would not be replaced at all. The new granite gravestones have been erected at the cemetery after everyone at the 1998 reunion had a chance to view them.
For those wanting to visit the cemetery, take Highway 46 West from the 281 Junction. Turn right on State Highway P31, drive 1.7 miles then turn right again at a metal gate (never locked). Proceed 0.6 miles on a gravel road to the cemetery.
Over half the money necessary was collected for new granite markers, if you would like to contribute to this worthwhile cause, please send your contribution to:
Reginald Ludwig
1091 Fieldstone Drive
New Braunfels, TX 78132-3214
All contributions will be greatly appreciated. In the unlikely event that excess money will be collected, the excess will be deposited into the annual reunion account. Thank you for your consideration in contributing to these worthy purposes.
The Benjamin and Marian Ludwig Memorial Committee members are Reginald Ludwig, Howard Ludwig, Clinton Ludwig and Walter Schlather.
The Friederich Wilhelm Schneider Reunion will be held on June 5, 1999 at the Albert Kypfer Herman Sons Lodge in Clear Springs, TX located 3 miles south of IH35 on Hwy 46. The doors will open at 11 am and the Potluck meal will be served at 12 noon. Each family is asked to bring a meat dish, salad or vegetable and dessert. Connie and Michael Krause are compiling a family history and your help with memorabilia, photographs, interesting stories and genealogical information is greatly appreciated. Items for the auction are welcomed. For more info call: Darrel Schacht 830/907-2541, Debra Urbanovsky 512/930-9320, Carol Edens 830/606-0988, or Connie Krause, 512/259-1355.
